Why is the frequency of replacing brake pads for chain hoists so high
published:2024-10-07

Brake pads are a key component of the chain block braking system and one of the few consumables among all the mechanical components of the chain block. Most of the components of the chain block will not have a relatively high replacement frequency during long-term use, while brake pads are different. The higher the frequency of use, the higher the frequency of brake pad replacement. So why do brake pads need to be replaced frequently?

Firstly, we need to understand the purpose of brake pads. During the operation of a chain hoist, brake pads are subjected to significant friction to limit the transmission of the hoist. Their purpose is to constantly rub, rub, and rub again, and the entire process of friction causes rapid wear and tear. When the wear and tear reaches a certain level, the braking effect of brake pads will significantly decrease. If not replaced in a timely manner, the chain hoist may experience serious injuries to operators on site due to the sliding or falling of heavy objects during lifting.

The failure of brake pads can have an impact on the braking system of the entire chain block, and even involve other components such as traditional systems, causing the chain block to not function properly. So we need to regularly inspect and replace the brake pads of the chain hoist, only in this way can we maintain the safe and efficient lifting work of the chain hoist.
